Polish Contemporary Sculptural Centre in Orońsko
‘The Collection of Modern Art the Center of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko’ ‘The Centre of Polish Sculpture has its seat in Orońsko, a village in the region of Mazowsze, situated in the very heart of Poland, between Warsaw...
Polish Sculptural Centre in Orońsko is a meeting place of artists from various parts of the world, which have different cultural experiences and traditions.
The presented selection of artworks was shaped in parallel with the activity of the Polish Sculptural Centre, which started as an artistic community centre in 1965. The collection includes works the majority of which had been made in situ by the time the Centre got the present structure in 1981.
The core of the collection consists of the works which make the newest chapter of the history of Polish sculpture. The vast majority of works have been made by Polish artists who appeared in Orońsko as participants of artistic workshops or presented their output there. This was the reason why they have left their works as gifts or deposits (frequently the reason was the fact that only the Polish Sculptural Centre has enough and suitable space to store large and bulky works).
The works that have come into being in recent years make the important part of the collection. This concerns mostly the works made by the artists of the young generation, who have had the possibility of artistic debut within the framework of the Young Triennial organised by the centre (four editions have been held since 1992). These works were also used in arranging the series of the so-called decade exhibitions (presenting subsequently the 60s, 70s, 80s and the 90s), within the framework of which the attempts of a synthesis of the newest Polish art history have been made.
The collection presented at the exhibition includes the works by Sylwester Ambroziak, Janusz Bałdyga, Mirosław Bałka, Krzysztof Bednarski, Jan Berdyszak, Jerzy Bereś, Bożena Biskupska, Włodzimierz Borowski, Marek Chlanda, Mirosław Filonik, Kijowski&Kocur, Grzegorz Klaman, Leszek Knaflewski, Grzegorz Kowalski, Edward Krasiński, Piotr Kurka, Natalia LL, Maria Pinińska-Bereś, Adam Rzepecki, Mikołaj Smoczyński, Antoni Starczewski, Maciej Szańkowski, Andrzej Szewczyk, Jan Stanisław Wojciechowski, and Krzysztof Zarębski.
