“(…) Pierre, Peter, a rock — it had all been going around in my head for a long time, until I went for a trip once and found a Bible in French on a bedside table in my hotel room. Although I wasn't looking for anything in particular, I came across this sentence: 'And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church ' (pierre also means rock in French — ed.) Naturally, 'building a church' has always been out of question. I didn't at all have such ambitions. I only meant to use this noble material, that is a lithographic stone, to build a firm friendship, which has lasted for forty years, and we are both really proud of that.”
