The publication is devoted to three different — formally, artistically and conceptually — biblical themes, presented by Andrzej Pawłowski (Genesis), Marek Chlanda (Way of the Cross) and Jan Lebenstein (Apocalypse). Artworks, reproduced in the book in their entirety, are complemented by a selection of commentaries. While analysing Andrzej Pawłowski's work, Janusz Krupiński keeps a distance that befits a theoretician, yet at the same time he is as close as a former student can be. Rev. Adam Boniecki considers Jan Lebenstein's illustrations with warm memory and theological reflection. Notes on the Way of Cross are accompanied by Marek Chlanda's own commentary. Rev. Zdzisław Kliś has provided the whole with an erudite introductory sketch, describing the various stages in the encounters between the latest art and the Bible from the close of the 19th century until now — writes Jan Trzupek in his introduction.
The publication has been enriched with biographical notes and selected recommended reading.
