The apparent simplicity and casualness of this artist's output can mislead an incidental viewer. Yet, those familiar with the artist are aware how many sketches it took to achieve a shape that he considered satisfying. By means of symbols and painted letters that tended to resemble picture-writing, he created his own graphic system, which he used to convey messages which are comprehensible in every linguistic sphere. Pictures of things and signs which are made to look like letters — this whole pictorial and ideographic system — though lacking in extreme vividness, triggers overwhelming poetic associations. His graphic code does not serve purely informative function; above all, it stimulates imagination and stirs emotions.
The publication contains texts by Zdzisław Schubert and Edmund P. Lewandowski. Included are also a biographical note and bibliography.
