Polish Contemporary Sculptural Centre in Orońsko Polish Sculptural Centre in Orońsko is a meeting place of artists from various parts of the world, which have different cultural experiences and...
‘The Centre of Polish Sculpture has its seat in Orońsko, a village in the region of Mazowsze, situated in the very heart of Poland, between Warsaw and Cracow. Far from the chaos of contemporary civilisation and from city turmoil, it is at the same time a denial of nuisance and average provincial life. (...)
Sculptors appeared in Orońsko, choosing the place for various reasons, but surely because of not distant deposits of good Szydłowiec sandstone. They found here the quiet spot and started to fill it with the sounds of their tools, aiming at awakening and reviving the sleepy genius loci. (...)
The Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko came into being with the decision of the Minister of Culture and Arts in 1981. The core of it was the centre of creative work of sculptors, which functioned here as early as in the sixties as a place of non-formal milieu meetings. Today’s structure soon appeared around it, including the Museum of Contemporary Sculpture and administration. The area of the institution includes also a part of the old farm buildings and 13-hectare landscape park. The whole complex is in the care of conservatory service and is inscribed into the register of historic buildings. (...)
The collection of the Museum includes works of the following authors:
