Wire-wrapping is one of the most popular techniques for producing hand-made jewellery. Basically, it can be described as weaving a thin piece of wire around a thick one. Wires can be curled in any manner, making each jewellery item unique. It is difficult to create two precisely similar pieces, which is one reason why this technique is so popular. The thinnest wires can be just 0,2-0,3 mm in diameter, providing this jewellery with an elaborate and unusual feel. There is also a tendency now to combine wire wrapping with other techniques, such as metal clay.
