GLASS FUSING workshops — melting and fusing, making glass objects from scratch to finish
GLASS FUSING workshops:
2 days — 30th June and 7th July at 10 a.m.
During the workshop we will be working with coloured and transparent Moretti/Effetre glass, coming in the shape of stringers or frits (finely ground glass). The glass relief making process involves the following stages:
— creating a design,
— making a clay prototype,
— pouring a special mixture over the prototype to make a mold,
— separating the mold from the clay prototype
— filling the mold with glass frits of different colours,
— firing.
Let your creative sparks come to play, take up a challenge and enjoy holding a final crafted product in your hands.

The goal of this workshop is to create a small sculpted object using the fusing technique. Modern technology allows us easy access to a four-thousand old history of glass making and allows us to make small glass sculptures in a short time. The technique of fusion fell into oblivion for centuries but was revived at the beginning of the 20th century. The potential of glass has never been easier to exploit, thanks to research on the compatibility of coloured glass pieces, the possibility to combine a variety of colours (hence the name of the technique — fusion), and highly controlled furnaces.
