In culture, colours have stood for primitivism, wildness, frenzy, decadence, carnival, immoderation and blending of contexts. Whatever was supposed to become urbane, needed to stop offending viewers with aggressive colours, and allow itself to become mollified and decolourized, neutralized. Katarzyna Przezwańska deliberately delights in colours, taking them from the real world — she sort of inserts a probe into reality and transfers colours into her installations. With a passion befitting an antropologist she distils colours from the surroundings and uses them to instil things and places with vibrant energy. Her interventions do not require context, they are received at the level of intuition, and are invariably associated with the strength, health and freshness that the artist brings into any existing space.
