The concept of the action dates back to an old Japanese legend, according to which a thousand origami cranes made by one person guarantees a fulfillment of this person's one wish. However, this ‘1000 Dreams’ action does not require any single person to make a thousand paper birds by themselves; the key thing is that the inhabitants of Katowice work together to achieve a common goal – happiness and prosperity. Paper cranes will adorn the branches of trees at the Obrońców Katowic Square.The action also relates to the concept of Katowice as ‘City of Dreams’.
