The course includes the following themes:
1. Camera and the reporters flashguns:
— ways of measuring light
— ways of flashgun triggering
— synchronisation with the shutter.
2. Hand light meter:
— working principle
— light measuring methods.
3. Working with flash and ambient light:
— checking the ratio of flash and ambient light
— how to balance the two sources of light
— special effects and mixing techniques of light sources.
4. Basic lighting methods:
— middle-key
— high-key
— low-key.
5. Using the modelling light in the scene lighting (light modelling ways and means):
— parasol
— soft box
— snoot
— honeycomb
— other caps and diffusers.
6. Individual light source:
— softened light
— contrast light
— the negative
— stream
— effect lighting.
7. Two and more sources of light:
— flash proportion balancing
— the main and additional light
— differences in the use of sheaths on two sides of the set.
8. Illumination of objects and models:
— influence of focus and distance from a model or object on the character of the picture
— depth of focus using flash lamp
— role of stage set in portrait and still life
— basics of the work with a model.
9. Practical classes (unassisted work at the studio).
