We travel across Poland and the whole world, organising workshops that help develop imagination and understand emotions. What we take along with us is tales, and then we listen to other people's stories, learn about their traditions and tell them about ours. We collect food recipes, fairy tales and memories, and we create new playgrounds and meeting areas using whatever is at hand.
In Silesia, their group will be represented by Patrycja Bulska, Katarzyna Michalska and Kuba Kiszka – graduates of pedagogical and anthropological studies from the University of Silesia. Since 2008, they have been co-organising workshops, conferences, as well as festivals of films that promote ecology, human rights and cultural diversity.
What are fairy tales? Does every country have its own monster? Do princesses look the same all over the world? What protects us from evil and what triggers us to become heroes? Are we still able to listen to and become engaged in the stories that have been passed from one generation to another? How old is the oldest tale and can we still sympathise with its characters?
CzujCzuj's collection of tales from different countries, such as Kurdistan, Russia and Moldova, allows us to learn how to deal with the nightmarish creatures of our childhood, who should be admired or how to become a hero. The starting point will be our own fairy tale map and characters made with our own hands using recycled materials. Then we will immerse ourselves into these tales as we put on performances in the open air using the surrounding places and objects. We will be able to see how similar we are to characters that feature in exotic stories.
At the end we will create our own story about a Mysterious Traveller. Starting his journey in Silesia, he will head for many other destinations, where he will come across things and places that will strike him as somewhat familiar.
