Oh My Jesus, We've Got a Refugee! — a Performance by a Dance Theatre Group, Followed by a Talk

Our gallery will be host to the pre-release performance of Jezus Maria, Uchodźca! (Oh My Jesus, We've Got a Refugee!) by Living Space Theatre, followed by a discussion on migration, which will be led by Alina Czyżewska — an actress, activist and volunteer. Alina Czyżewska will provide us with the first-hand account of the situation of refugees staying on the island of Lesbos and about the Greek reactions and initiatives. Her presentation will deal with facts and myths concerning the refugees and she will explain the relevant legal provisions in the context of human rights (such as The Geneva Conventions, European Convention on Human Rights, the Constitution).

Also, there will be time to talk about feelings and fear of migrants, as well as about fake news, manipulation techniques, finding reliable sources of information and relying on a critical approach to news and information.

The event is realised within the project ‘Zrozumieć kulturę’ (How to Understand Culture), financed by the Council of Upper-Silesia as part of their policy to support multiculturalism in the region.
