Basia Bańda ‘A Wave That Lifts and Carries Away’

In her newest series, Basia Bańda seems to have switched from the autobiographical to a wider perpective. The axis of the exhibition is no longer Basia (not 'Barbara' — a dimunitive form is used on purpose, as the author has chosen it as her artistic pseudonym), but environment, with its ability to influence behaviour.
In earlier works, Basia's characteristic, quivery form enhanced the impression of the ongoing process of becoming an individual. Now, she uses it to spin a tale about the surrounding that encompasses an individual — so it is rather about an identity being formed.
