What is BNNT?
The BNNT duo started their collaboration 11 years ago in Poznań. Since then, they have performed in many music clubs, galleries, theatres, big festivals, as well as in the street. They have released two stylistically diverse albums, where music plays as important a role as the text and graphics of its cover and the attached booklet — so they claim. Unwilling to call themselves musicians, they mostly deliver performances in the form of a couple of hours long performative installations. The duo is now embarking on a new project, aiming to rethink the standard notions of ALBUM and BAND.
ALBUM
The title of BNNT's last album, Multiverse (released by Instant Classic), originates from the reflection on contradicting viewpoints on the reality. No matter how well we can relate to our close friends and family members, our experience of the same situations will never be identical — and even more so in the case of animals, as their cognitive apparatus is much different from ours. The idea of multi-version, that is a universe built from over a dozen parallel worlds, may be a very distant prospect, but in our daily lives we can be easily confronted with the (unpleasant) realisation that the real life is not what it seems to be — and it is by no means perceived in the same way by others. BNNT re-released their last album, more than once. Each edition of Multiverse is also another variation of the parallel world — a different version of a well-received album.
BAND
According to the description on their website, BNNT is a tribe, a herd and a group. The herd appears to be quite complex, as proven by the frequent re-releases of the Multiverse album, which have all been done with the participation of different guest musicians. Mind you, the forefathers of the tribe tell us to be ready for more surprises.
