The publication Miasto documents the exhibition entitled ‘Portrayals of the City’, which was realized following the curatorial concept of Marek Zieliński, and with the engagement of the following artists — Erwin Sówka, Andrzej Tobis, Maciej Bieniasz, Karol Wieczorek, Maciej Nawrot, Antoni Halor and Waldemar Jama. Using their preferred media, each artist presents the space and history of Katowice.
The artists’ contemporary visions have been juxtaposed with archival photographs of the city’s inhabitants.
Apart from illustrations, the book contains texts — analyses of the exhibited artworks — written by art historians and critics, including Professor Irma Kozina, Adam Sobota, Marek Zieliński and Marta Lisok.
